Temporary Anchorage Device (TAD)

A Temporary Anchorage Device (TAD) can be defined as a device that is temporarily fixed to the bone for the purpose of enhancing orthodontic anchorage either by supporthing the teeth of the reactive unit (indirect anchorage) or by obviating the need for the reactive unit altogether (Direct anchorage), which is subsequently removed after use.
